Government Undermining Its Own Work in Iraq?
The proclaimed purpose of the Iraq war is to bring freedom and stability to the region. So we fail to understand why the Bush administration openly (and the State and Commerce Departments privately) endorsed an unregulated Hunt Oil deal with Kurds in Northern Iraq, while separate U.S. officials were attempting to create an Iraqi national oil law independently. Is the government defeating itself?
